Our Weekend

It’s the end of a very busy week for me, so I was looking forward to a relaxing weekend with Christina and Micah. It’s probably just as much work taking care of a baby as it is designing web sites (sort of what I do at work). Still, it’s nice to have a change of pace. I tried to keep Micah occupied most of Saturday so that Christina could have most of the day “off”. I think she appreciated that, although I was pretty tired by the end of the day. It’s humbling to think that she does this all day, all week.

We went grocery shopping in the evening and Micah seemed to really enjoy the while trip. He usually gets really tired and upset on the way home, but this time he was quiet and content all the way. Bringing up the groceries to our second floor apartment unit, with a baby in a car seat is sort of tricky, so we ended up going two rounds up and down the stairs.

On Sunday we walked over to the Custer street fair which is just a few blocks away from where we are. The weather was really nice when we were out. Nica and sunny but not too hot. The Custer street fair is one of several art fairs that go on during the summer in Evanston. They also have lots of food and music, as well as plenty of very interesting arts and craft for sale. Micah slept in his stroller most of the time (despite the loud crowds and music) but I think he liked being outside, even though he didn’t see very much.

As soon as we got home, it started to rain which strangely enough, turned into hail for a little bit. Not the kind of weather you’d expect in the summer, although around here, the weather always does crazy things. We could hear the little bits of ice bouncing off the window outside. We were pretty glad to be home before the weather turned bad.

All in all, a pretty nice weekend.
